Assyrian capture of Urmia in 1918

According to historian David Gaunt, a primary characteristic was the total targeting of the Assyrian population, including farming villages as well as rebelling mountain tribes. The killing in rural regions was more extensive, while some survived the massacres in cities; Gaunt states that this indicates that a primary aim was the confiscation of land. The property, villages and animals of the villagers were destroyed totally to prevent their return.[1] In most areas, the genocide occurred between June and October 1915.[2]

Rfc: Infobox

[edit]

Should this article have an Infobox or not? Zinderboff (talk) 17:36, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Having an RfC is a little premature don't you think? See below.
I would suggest adding the info box you would like. If that prompts no complaints then all is good. If it does then it can be discussed and then if a consensus can't be reached (and only then) should you could go to RfC.
In the meantime I would suggest that you close this Rfc.
Thanks

Shortcuts
RfCs are time consuming, and editor time is valuable. Editors should try to resolve their issues before starting an RfC. Try discussing the matter with any other parties on the related talk page. If you can reach a consensus or have your questions answered through discussion, then there is no need to start an RfC. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 18:50, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads up! Someone else added an infobox and was reverted because the lack of discussion. I will open a normal discussion instead. Can you close this RfC for me please? Thanks! Zinderboff (talk) 18:55, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]

Should there be an infobox on this article? Like the articles for the Greek and Armenian genocides. I think one would be helpful to quickly inform the viewer of the article information such as timeframe, reasons, perpetrators and casualties. Zinderboff (talk) 19:03, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you looked through the talk page archives, you could answer this question. The problem with adding an infobox is that if we're going to adhere to NPOV most of the fields would be marked something like "unknown" or "disputed". Because this event is less well studied and historical sources are sparse, the nuance of prose is necessary to accurately convey to readers what is known about the event. I see. Thanks for this information! Zinderboff (talk) 19:32, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
